We all know 2020 is about the craziest year ever…
Astrologers will tell you they’ve never seen anything like it. And, according to my favorite astrologer, November is going to be the most intense, and possibly violent, month of the year. Ugh.
We are on the eve of the most contentious election in US history as I write this. Is anyone feeling a little anxiety or perhaps some battle fatigue?
How do we cope with this when it feels like everything we thought we could count on now appears to be made out of a stack of cards and we don’t know who to trust?
Not only is the world looking a bit fragile, but many of us are feeling it in our own personal lives. People and situations we thought we could count on may not be looking so certain after all. The stress of life in quarantine is massive for many and, unfortunately, the collateral damage is staggering.
Since the end of this, shall we say—instability—is nowhere in site, we need to learn how to rise to the occasion and navigate this as best as possible.
What are some basic strategies we can use?
- Reframe your view. These are times that we learn what we are made of…
It is very easy to slip into indifference and hopelessness when we look at the chaos taking place. We can feel very small and powerless over what is happening in the bigger picture as well as in our own individual lives.
Resist the urge to think what you do, feel, say, think and believe is insignificant. Everything matters and has a ripple effect. It is through times of adversity that we learn who we are and what we are truly made of. Rise to the occasion at hand. Make yourself proud and be the best you can be.
2. Lead with your heart…
There is a lot of darkness coming to the surface right now. By darkness, I mean the unhealed parts of the world structures at large, as well as our own individual wounds are festering like never before.
This may look “bad”, but it is through this kind of purge and breakdown that we can ultimately get to a breakthrough. We will most likely be in a global transition for a few years to come, but we can build something better out of all this chaos.
The same is true for any struggles and changes in your own life. Trust something better is trying to emerge. Lead with your heart and use this time as an opportunity to heal and come out of this stronger than before.
3. Listen to your own truth…
If there ever were a time on earth for feeling like the truth is hidden in smoke and mirrors, this may be it. We are in a process in which much that has been manipulated and hidden from humanity is now coming to the surface. This can feel shocking and destabilizing.
Yet, there is a profound lesson in this madness. Many of us have been trained since childhood to give our power away. We have been socialized to please others as a means for our own survival. We are now being taught the hard lesson of what happens when we abdicate our inner authority, go against our inner knowing and blindly believe what we are told.
The basis of my work with clients is to help them reclaim this lost self and learn to trust their own truth. The times we are in will require that if one is to come through this stronger than before. Question everything you hear. Think critically and follow your own instincts.
4. Trust you can do this…
One thing I have learned as a therapist and life coach, is that we all have strength and resilience inside us that we may not know is there.
I am often amazed at how my clients find their way out of seemingly hopeless situations and reclaim their lives. Sometimes I think they just needed someone to believe in them and hold the space for their brilliance to come forth and then it does!
You have this brilliance, too. It is encoded inside each one of us and just waiting to be called forth. Trust your heart, listen to your truth and find out what you are made of. You may surprise yourself and rise like the phoenix out of these ashes and into a life you truly desire.
That is what we need to turn this worldly situation around. We need each of us to find our inner strength and heal our hearts in order to create a better world. It doesn’t take place “out there”. This is an inside job of rebirthing a new human and, hence, a new earth.
5. Have faith…
You are not alone. None of us are. There is a Divine plan at work and each of us is a part of it. What is happening globally and individually needs to happen or it would not be occurring. These challenging times have been predicted by the sages and seers for many years. We all chose to be here during this amazing time. Find the place where you can make a difference. Have faith. We got this. And so it is.
