Many people believe they need confidence before they can move forward.
Others think they need certainty.
Some believe they need to eliminate fear first.
But after years of working with clients—and navigating my own life transitions—I have found that meaningful change rarely begins with confidence, certainty, or fearlessness.
It begins with willingness.
Why We Wait
Most of us are waiting for a feeling that never arrives.
We wait until:
- we feel ready
- we feel confident
- we know the outcome
- the fear disappears
But life rarely works that way.
If we wait until we are completely comfortable, we often remain exactly where we are.
The truth is that most meaningful changes involve some degree of uncertainty. There is rarely a moment when every question is answered and every fear is gone.
Yet many people postpone the next step while waiting for that moment.
