Today is July 4th. A date that has historically marked the birth of a nation and great hope for the future.
Yet, this July 4th is unlike any other. Our lives are currently full of constriction, anxiety and uncertainty about what is going on and who to believe and trust.
We are living in unprecedented times.
The speed now at which things are happening is head-spinning and mind-boggling. It’s a challenge to keep up…
Many of us healers feel we have been preparing for these days for a lifetime. We could feel something coming…for years. Perhaps most everyone could. It all makes sense now.
Don’t kid yourself…Life as we knew it is over.
Something better may be coming if we do this right. If we don’t, I fear what life will look like in the years to come.
We must all stay aware and conscious now. There is no more time to numb out, go to sleep and avoid the issues in our lives that we are here to transform and heal.
This is about more than a virus, inequality, misogyny, racism, police brutality, the economy, politics, fear, deception and whatever else we are facing on any given day.
Whatever problems are “out there” originate from what’s unhealed inside each and every one of us.
It’s time to stop thinking that everyone else is the problem and if only “they” would change, things would get better.
This is not to say that our collective society does not have tremendous dysfunction. It does; and that is an understatement. But, these problems are caused by our individual collective unconsciousness that ultimately gets projected “out there”.
The damage this causes then creates a society that lacks fertile ground for a peaceful, loving existence for all. A feedback loop of pain and negativity “out there” is created which entraps us and becomes difficult to transcend.
But, the time is upon us to transcend and transform. We must or the consequences look dire. Loss of freedom, lies and deception, divisiveness, fear and despair will prevail.
In 2007, while training as a life coach with Martha Beck, she told our class she felt as a young child that she was born to help usher in a great transition on planet earth. She had no idea what this was or when it was going to happen. Yet, it felt like a shift in consciousness of some kind was coming.
Over the years Martha discovered that many of her coaching students felt the same way. She called us Wayfinders—the ones here to help others find their way when feeling lost and confused.
We did our life coach training not quite knowing what we were being enlisted into, yet most of us felt an uncanny sense of foreboding. Well, here we are. This is evidently what we were anticipating.
Yet despite the adversity at hand, what I am seeing as a therapist and life coach is phenomenal. I am seeing the strength of the human spirit and the awakening of the hearts of warriors.
My clients show up week after week feeling confused, beaten down, scared and in some level of pain and discomfort. Yet, they show up even when their jobs may be at risk or they are facing a multitude of other hardships and uncertainties.
What seems to be happening is that the aspects of one’s life that are not working can no longer be avoided. The issues are being magnified and the pressure is beyond intense. Being locked up at home for several months evidently does that.
It’s harder and harder each day to look the other way and distract yourself from the broken marriage, suffocating job, narcissistic family member, nagging health problem, self-sabotaging addiction or whatever else is going unattended.
This may feel like hell, but it’s human nature to not change without the stimulus of pain. It appears we are all being confined to home for reasons beyond a pandemic. Life works in mysterious ways.
The collective pain is rising to be transformed so something better can unfold.
Perhaps there is a higher consciousness that is wanting to come through humanity as a whole so we can birth a new earth. An earth based in love, equality and true justice for all.
The new world that is awaiting us can be magnificent. But, there’s so much to get through before that happens.
Can we do it and what will it require?
It will require every single one us to open our hearts and be willing to do the work necessary to love ourselves, overcome our pain and stop projecting it onto one another.
In short, we need to bring a more healed level of awareness to the problems at hand if we are to survive.
No small task, I know. This is over-simplifying the enormity of the work needed, but the true scope of our work is way beyond this blog. My attempt is to simply plant a seed of intention.
I see a vision on the other side of a world in which we can all thrive. I feel a knowing and deep longing for that. Yet, I also see the possibility of things turning in the other direction. If that happens, life on earth may become highly undesirable and uninhabitable.
These times are unprecedented indeed. Yet, we were born for these times. This age has been predicted by sages and seers for many years.
We are writing history like never before. Let’s write a history we can be proud of for generations to come. We all must now rise to the occasion.
Let’s choose to do this with a higher consciousness based in love.
And, now more than ever, may we be guided by forces wiser and more powerful than ourselves to have the conviction and strength to do what needs to be done.
