One of the ways that I choose a topic for a blog post each week is to look at my library of photos and choose a photo that I feel drawn to and let it inspire a thought for a blog. I know that may be a bit strange for anyone primarily left-brained, but it is how I let my inner guidance take the lead. Plus, I find it more fun than “thinking up” a topic. I also look for themes during the week in terms of what my clients tend to be talking about a lot or other topics in the media or news related to personal growth.
This week I was feeling a bit uninspired and was going to skip writing anything. However, as I looked at my photo library, the above photo of a leopard kept standing out to me. It actually felt quite haunting and I couldn’t let it go. My rational mind kept wanting to skip over it and was questioning what could I actually write about that has anything to do with a leopard?
Yet, I felt the leopard had a message for me. I decided to Google “leopard” as a totem animal and was stunned by the message. I am going through some major transitions in my life right now and sometimes feel as if I am being swept up in a current that is going faster than my mind can handle. My self-identity is shifting and expanding in ways that feel out of my control and it can be very disorienting at times. All I can do is stay as present as possible and take one step at a time.
The leopard’s message to me was this:
“He is reminding you that there is always a period of rebirth after a period of suffering and death on some level. Leopard is the healer of deep wounds and will bring old issues to resolution through the reclaiming of power that was lost during the time of the wounding. He is reminding you that you have many resources, skills, capabilities, inner resources and patterns available to you that will allow you to do a broad range of tasks at will. These resources can be physical, mental, psychic, emotional and spiritual.
Alternatively the Leopard is letting you know that you need to accept your own spots and use them as your own strengths. Stop hiding because of your own perceived weaknesses. You have the power and the strength to accomplish everything you dream of. You simply have to believe, have faith and find the right path. Persistence is the keyword.”
This message couldn’t be more timely or accurate for me. Reading it made me feel reassured and affirmed for the choices and actions I am taking. It was very comforting and left me feeling less alone. In short, it was just what I needed.
We all ask for signs at times to let us know we are going in the right direction or making the right choices. However, do we really hear and listen to the answers we are receiving?
Lots of times clients tell me they ask for guidance or a sign, but don’t receive their answer. My hunch is that many times an answer comes along, but they simply don’t catch it or want to hear it. If we really listen to the Universe in this way, a part of us knows our life will change. It is natural to have some resistance to these kinds of messages and the changes they can suggest.
It takes trust and faith to really receive the sign or message and follow it. I know I have resisted these messages many times over and oftentimes later regretted it.
What are you needing guidance or answers to in your life? Do you ask for guidance or some kind of sign and, if so, are you really open to receive it? If not, why? If you do get your answer, do you follow it or bypass it with your rational mind which will gladly jump in and tell you all the reasons to ignore the sign or answer?
I encourage you to listen more deeply to these kinds of messages. They carry a wisdom from our soul and perhaps the collective unconscious that wants to guide us to our highest and best destiny. Do you have the courage to listen and take action? If not now, when?
